Q: What is a Customs Bond?
A: There are several different types of bonds required by the United States CBP. By far, the most common bond is the C-1, continuous import bond. The Import Bond guarantees that CBP will collect all import duties, taxes, fines or penalties, if not from the importer then from the insurance/surety company who issued the bond. In addition, the bond indemnifies the insurance/surety company, allowing the insurance/surety company to make any legal attempt to recover from the importer all monies that were paid on the importer’s behalf.
Q: $349 a year for my customs bond sounds like a deal too good to be true … How can you offer such low prices?
A: The average cost for this bond when purchased from a broker is $400-$500 per year or more.
WE OFFER THE SAME BOND AT AN ANNUAL PREMIUM OF JUST $349.00!
You may be purchasing your current bond through an additional “middleman” (a customs broker or freight forwarder). Your broker purchases the Customs bond through a Surety agent and then marks up the cost and sells it back to you. We are the surety agent so there is no additional mark up. BONDS4CUSTOMS.COM offers the most cost effective source for your continuous US Customs bond needs.
Q: How long will it take to get my customs bond?
A: It takes between 2 to 4 business days to prepare your documents; we’ll email them to you when they’re complete. When we receive your paperwork back we’ll send it to Customs. Once all the paper work has been provided your bond will be filed electronically with the CBP. If you need to file a 5106, this can take up to 2 weeks to get approved by customs. We can assist you in filing the 5106 for an addtional $100.00 fee. This fee will not be included with your bond renewal. Click Here for more information.
Q: What size of a Customs Import Bond do I need?
A: The minimum continuous import bond is for $50,000. If this is your first year with a customs bond or Customs has not required you to increase your current bond limit then leave it as $50,000. If customs decides you need to increase the bond coverage over time, they will send you a letter. This letter is not a problem, all you have to do is send us the letter and we’ll work on increasing the bond amount. The average cost for a continuous customs bond when purchased from a broker is $400-$500 per year or more. WE OFFER THE SAME BOND AT AN ANNUAL PREMIUM OF JUST $349.00!
